We played DECAPOLICE at the Tokyo Game Show last year and absolutely loved it, but the game was delayed until 2026 earlier today. That's not a typing error by the way: the detective title, originally due in 2024, will now skip 2025 entirely. It's still scheduled for PS5 and PS4, but we can't see it launching on Sony's last-gen system at this point.
"For DECAPOLICE, we’re developing systems for a large open world, and preparing to release the anime and game at the same time," explained LEVEL-5 president and CEO Akihiro Hino, as reported by Gematsu. "We are thrilled to have MARiA sing the theme song — a true diva whose power matches that of the protagonist Harvard — adding a dramatic flair to the performance. Both the visuals and the content of the game are being improved, as we’re evolving it into an even more engaging experience. That also means we’ll need more time to finish it, though. DECAPOLICE is now scheduled for release in 2026."

There is a new trailer embedded above, and it still looks amazing. It's just a shame it's so far away.

Should've seen the riots here in UK a while ago, was plenty deckin police going on.
Had a feeling it'd turn out this way when they announced a bunch of stuff in a short time frame. Layton, Fantasy Life, Decapolice, etc. It's why I reined in my excitement.
I just think Level 5 are way too in over their heads, they are trying to develop so many games at once with Decapolice, Professor Layton, Fantasy Life, two Inazuma Eleven games, Megaton Musashi and a new rpg that got announced today called Ghost Craft.
Just focus on one or two and get them released instead of delaying pretty much every game, even Fantasy Life which is pretty simple and basic in design has now been delayed AGAIN, from 2023 to 2024 and now to April 2025.
While a bit disappointing at first as long as it's good I don't care if it's delayed another 2 years at least, I hope, they are being realistic with the timeframe this time. Considering how little we saw 2024 always seemed implausible.
It's not like there is any shortage of games to play. In fact my list of games I will never get to play only grows longer and longer by the day.
@UltimateOtaku91 I wish they'd prioritise just one of the titles over this comeback-to-the-West parade of titles. Of course, I say that as someone who's been waiting for an Inazuma Eleven title for god knows how long (Editor's Note: 9 years), so I feel my impatience is somewhat justified.
Ideal PS6 launch title
This is why I never understood why that one ninty direct which was basically a lvl 5 direct was considered good lol
I still have a lot of respect for these devs but most of the games they showed might as well have just been cinematic teasers. Basically all of them got hit with big delays. I'm pretty sure i read they were at a point of bankruptcy too, it was pretty obvious these games were going the way of Lost Soul Aside
Level-5 is trying to do too much at once. They are trying to develop like seven games at once, when they are a company of only around 300 people. They also want to make every IP of theirs into a multimedia project, when they should just make the games be games. Not everything needs to be an anime and other stuff.
Just to clarify, I like Level-5's games and want them to succeed, but they are just too far in over their heads.
They added the PC releases pushing it back a year
@RagnarLothbrok Considering how long some of the other titles have been delayed, it's just as likely a gust of wind that knocked over a stack of papers caused the delay.
Well there goes almost all my excitement.😞
Ha!
The PS6 will be out before this game launches for PS4 or PS5!
Who is that excited for Decapolice? Who is gonna be excited by the time this comes out in 2026? An unproven IP from a struggling developer that was supposed to be out last year. Genuinely what’s going on with their management. I wouldn’t be surprised if they shuttered beforehand.
I love Level-5 but this is the most Level-5 thing ever. Still haven’t forgiven them for not giving us London Life with Spectre’s Call.
Probably come to Switch's successor instead of the Switch itself
@get2sammyb "That's not a typing error by the way: the detective title, originally due in 2024"
There is a typo when you wrote 2024, Level 5 originally said in their March 2023 Vision Showcase that Decapolice would be out in 2023. Also 3 of their other 4 games were 2023, the other due out in either 2023 or 2024. Whoever dated 5 games and missed them all by years shouldn't get a paycheck until after the last game releases. 🤑

I hope it doesn’t become another Granblue Relink, a game that killed most of my hype with continuous delays and went from looking amazing to kinda dated by the time it released.
I'm still interested in this, along with Professor Layton and Fantasy Life. But with all the delays, it does seem like Level-5 is struggling to actually release games.
I'm all for games been delayed to be finished properly before launch but how to you announce a game in early 2023, to be released that same year, only to announce a (second) delay some 17 months later for potentially another 2 years
They need to take it down a few levels.
Is Pragmata ever actually coming out on PS5? Is Deep Down ever actually coming out on PS4?
@pyrrhic_victory
I thought pragmata was cancelled and not just cancelled, but cancelled just after it was announced!
Bummer, 2026 is ways off.
Did anyone else have Level 5 mixed up with Factor 5 in their heads? Just me? I really loved their GameCube games.
